Win Off The Pitch Too

The Financial Development Framework for the Football World

You look at a league table and you know instantly where a club stands.

No delusion. No excuses. Just facts.

Your finances work exactly the same way.

The Idea

Every footballer already understands progression.

You don't jump from the bottom of the table to winning the league. You climb. Stage by stage. And at each stage the job changes - a relegation-threatened side isn't working on the same things as a team chasing the title.

Money works identically. The problem is nobody's ever laid it out that way.

Win Off The Pitch Too does. Four stages, in football language, so any player can find where they actually are and know exactly what comes next.

Not everything at once. Just the next thing.

The 4 Stages of Financial Development

RELEGATION ZONE:

Survival

Money's gone before the next payment lands. No structure, no system, no idea where it went. Avoiding the banking app because you don't want to know.

The work here isn't budgeting. It's honesty and belief. A relegation side has to stop conceding before it dreams about Europe.

This is where most people start.

You might recognise this stage if:

• You feel like you’re “not good with money”
• You spend without really thinking about it
• Money feels confusing or stressful

At this level, the focus is simple:

Understanding that money is a skill.

Not something you are born good or bad at.

MID-TABLE:

Structure

You know your numbers. The system exists. Money has somewhere to go before it disappears, and tax is set aside before it's spent.

Breathing room. The panic reduces. The danger now is lifestyle creep quietly undoing everything you've built.

This is where things become real.

You start to ask:

• Where is my money actually going?
• Why do I run out before the end of the month?

This stage is about:

• Tracking spending
• Understanding your income
• Putting a simple structure in place

Clarity replaces guesswork.

TOP 4 PUSH

Growth

Bad debt cleared. Emergency fund holding. Money starting to work independently of you.

You've stopped reacting to this month and started building for the next five years.

This is where long-term thinking begins.

You start to think:

• How can I build something for the future?
• How do I make my money grow?

At this stage, you learn:

• The difference between saving and investing
• How compounding works over time
• How to stay consistent

This is where discipline builds momentum.

TITLE CHALLENGE:

Freedom

Money no longer picks your team. You choose when to stop playing, not your bank balance.

This stage isn't about having the most. It's about having enough that football becomes a choice - and about what you leave behind.

This is where everything comes together.

Whether your income increases through:

• A contract
• A job
• A side income

The key is:

Keeping your structure.

At this level, you learn:

• How to grow income without losing control
• How to avoid lifestyle inflation
• How to assign every pay rise a purpose

This is what creates long-term success.

Every stage is worked through the same five-part pathway.

Where This Takes You

Age 35. The contract ends. And you're fine.

Rent or mortgage covered without panic.

Six months of living costs sitting in the bank.

Investments quietly compounding since your twenties.

Coaching badges or a business — funded by you, not borrowed for.

You choose when to stop playing.

Not your bank balance.

Where It Came From

This framework wasn't built in a classroom.

It was built by someone who went through the relegation zone himself - five-figure debt in his twenties, no structure, no idea how he'd got there - and had to climb out one stage at a time.

Then qualified as a chartered accountant and spent years inside professional football, watching players make the exact same mistakes for the exact same reason.

Nobody had taught them either.
